Accessibility Statement

The Onwunaka Foundation wants everyone, including people with disabilities, to be able to use our website. This statement describes what we have actually done, what we know is not yet perfect, and how to reach us if something gets in your way.
Our standard
We designed and built this website to follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. We have not had an independent audit, so we do not claim full conformance. We aim for it, and we fix problems as soon as we learn about them.
What is in place today
A “Skip to Main Content” link at the top of every page, so keyboard and screen-reader users can bypass the navigation
One main heading per page, with headings in order, so the structure makes sense to screen readers
Descriptive alternative text on every image. Illustrations that were created with AI are labelled as such in their captions
A colour palette checked against WCAG AA contrast ratios: reading text meets at least 4.5:1, and our copper accent colour is used only as decoration on light backgrounds, never for text
Body text no smaller than 16 pixels, and pages that respond to browser zoom and fit phone, tablet and desktop screens without sideways scrolling
Buttons and links with clear names that say where they go, such as “Give to the Education Fund”
Navigation, buttons and forms that can be reached with a keyboard, using the focus indicators provided by our website platform, Wix Studio
Motion kept subtle: content fades in gently as you scroll, and nothing flashes
Audio and video
The website does not currently include video or audio. If we add any, we will provide captions, and a transcript where it helps.
How we check
An automated accessibility scan of the website during the build
Manual checks of every page at phone, tablet and desktop sizes
A fresh check whenever we add a new page or a major section
Known limitations
Donations are processed on forms hosted by Zeffy, and our newsletter sign-up and news pages use Wix features. We choose these services with care, but we do not control their accessibility
Some older news posts were written before this website was redesigned and may not yet meet every standard above
